Rockhampton Regional Council invites applications for a Plant Operator/Labourer to support construction, maintenance and operational activities essential to delivering reliable water and sewerage services across the region.

The role requires current competency in skid steer, excavator and backhoe, MR licence, and a safety‑first approach. You will operate plant and trucks, undertake civil tasks such as pipe laying and basic concreting, and help maintain hydrants, valves and mains.

Qualifications

• Strong labouring background.
• MR Licence with ability to operate excavator, backhoe and skid steer.
• Safety‑mocussed with ability to identify hazards on site.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and plant such as excavators, backhoes and skid steers.
• Carry out civil construction tasks including pipe laying and basic concreting.
• Maintain and repair water and sewer infrastructure including hydrants, valves and mains.
• Perform basic servicing of equipment and report defects or safety issues.
• Work safely using hand tools while supporting a multi‑skilled team.
