Job summary

Sims Limited is seeking a Plant Operator in Adelaide, Australia. You will be at the heart of operations, grading and sorting scrap metals, loading/unloading, and assisting customers while operating forklifts and site equipment.

You will help weigh and prepare materials for transport and stocktake, maintaining safety and a tidy work area. The role requires practical hands-on work, strong teamwork, and a commitment to safety and customer service, with opportunities for training and career

Qualifications

• Experience in recycling, warehousing or related hands-on roles.
• Ability to load/unload, weigh and stock materials.
• Effective communication with customers and team members.

Responsibilities

• Grade, sort, and purchase a range of scrap metals.
• Load and unload trucks, skip bins, and trailers.
• Assist customers with enquiries and provide a positive service experience.
• Operate forklifts and other site machinery.
• Weigh, bag, palletise, and prepare materials for transport and stocktake.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow procedures.
• Support the wider team to keep the site running smoothly.

Plant Operator

Reporting to the Yard Manager, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring materials are processed safely and efficiently while delivering outstanding customer service.

This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, equipment operation, and practical yard work, making it perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and getting stuck in.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Grading, sorting, and purchasing a range of scrap metals
• Loading and unloading trucks, skip bins, and trailers
• Assisting customers with enquiries and providing a positive service experience
• Operating forklifts and other site machinery and equipment
• Weighing, bagging, palletising, and preparing materials for transport and stocktake
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment
• Following workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
• Supporting the wider team to keep the site running smoothly

Bonus Points If You Have

• Forklift Licence (highly regarded)
• Previous experience operating machinery or working in recycling, waste, logistics, manufacturing, or resource recovery
