Job summary

WesTrac is seeking an experienced Plant Mechanic Leading Hand to join our Ravensworth Mine site team. This hands-on leadership role supports the Maintenance Supervisor by coordinating daily maintenance activities, mentoring tradespeople, and ensuring equipment reliability across a CAT mining fleet.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Plant Mechanic who enjoys leading from the front, developing others, and delivering exceptional maintenance outcomes in a safety-focused mining

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant is required.
• Experience as Leading Hand or supervisor within mining is preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities.
• Good communication and team leadership skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities for the work group.
• Support safe work practices and site procedures.
• Mentor and develop Plant Mechanics and apprentices.
• Assist with planning, scheduling and allocation of maintenance tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities for the work group.

• Mentor and develop Plant Mechanics and apprentices.


• Assist with planning, scheduling and allocation of maintenance tasks.


• Drive equipment reliability, quality workmanship and productivity.


• Liaise with Supervisors and customers to achieve operational targets.

What You’ll Bring

• Australian recognised trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant.


• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience within mining.


• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capabilities.


• Sound communication and team leadership skills.


• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
