Job summary

WesTrac's Welshpool workshop in WA is seeking a Plant Mechanic to overhaul Caterpillar engines, transmissions, differentials and final drives, following CAT specs and our procedures. You will inspect parts, measure against reusability guidelines, complete quality documentation and support a safe, high‑performance workshop environment.

The role follows a 5 on, 2 off roster. We require a Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanic Trade Qualification; CAT ET/SIS/VIMS experience is desirable; you will work in

Qualifications

• Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanic Trade Qualification is required.
• Experience working on mobile plant and components.
• CAT ET/SIS/VIMS experience is desirable.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship for customers.
• Ability to work effectively in a team or autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Overhaul Caterpillar components including engines, transmissions, differentials and final drives.
• Inspect and measure internal parts against reusability guidelines.
• Complete component overhauls per Caterpillar specifications and company procedures.
• Accurately complete inspection and quality control documentation.
• Support a safe and innovative workplace.

Job description

Your new role as the Plant Mechanic for Mining Components will be reporting to the Workshop Supervisor.

About Welshpool

The Mining Components workshop at Welshpool, WA, offers cost-effective repairs for Caterpillar equipment. We specialise in certified powertrain components, and custom solutions, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Location: Welshpool

Roster - 5Days On, 2Days Off - DAYS ONLY

What you'll do:

• Overhaul various Caterpillar components including engines, transmissions, differentials and final drives.
• Inspect and measure internal parts against reusability guidelines.
• Complete component overhauls in accordance with Caterpillar specifications and company procedures.
• Accurately complete inspection and quality control documentation.
• Actively participate in maintaining a safe and innovative workplace.

Skills & Experience:

• Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanic Trade Qualification
• Experience working on mobile plant and components
• Experience with Caterpillar Systems (ET, SIS, VIMS) - desirable
• Dedication to a safe working environment and quality work for our customers
• Ability to work within a team & autonomously
