Job summary

Aurizon is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Plant & Equipment Engineering team. The role provides engineering expertise across mobile equipment and fixed plant assets supporting Aurizon's ports, terminals, intermodal facilities and depots.

You will develop solutions, investigate failures, review specs, and support capital projects from concept to handover while upholding engineering standards and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level engineering degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years of technical experience in heavy industry environments.
• Professional Engineer registration (RPEQ) or ability to obtain registration.
• Experience with mobile and/or fixed plant assets and asset management.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities.
• Ability to manage technical work programs and engineering projects.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engineering solutions for plant and equipment assets.
• Investigate equipment failures and identify improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, designs and engineering documentation.
• Support capital projects from concept through to commissioning and asset handover.
• Conduct design reviews and technical assessments to ensure engineering standards compliance.
• Contribute to engineering standards, procedures and best practices.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance teams, contractors and external suppliers.
• Provide technical advice to support safe and reliable asset performance.
