Job summary

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) in NSW is seeking a Planning Officer to drive planning outcomes across NSW, including delivering homes and jobs. This temporary full-time role is based in Parramatta with flexible working options.

You will research complex planning issues, provide clear advice, and collaborate with councils, communities and stakeholders to translate priorities into practical outcomes that support Government objectives.

Help Shape Homes, Jobs and Communities Across NSW

  • Office location based in Parramatta with flexible working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $119,329 to $134,463 + super
In this role you will

Work on planning projects that help deliver homes and jobs across NSW. Collaborate with councils, communities and stakeholders to turn planning priorities into practical outcomes that support growing and vibrant places.

You’ll research complex planning issues, provide clear advice and help deliver high-quality planning outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly support informed decision-making and contribute to achieving Government objectives.

About you
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports, briefings and advice, and translate complex information into plain English for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to research issues, evaluate information and develop practical planning solutions in a complex environment.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build productive relationships with local councils, government agencies, industry and community stakeholders to achieve planning outcomes.
  • Proven organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Essential Requirements

  • Willingness to travel and Class C Driver Licence
