Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking a Development Support Officer to deliver high-level customer service and specialist planning advice within the Sustainable Development Team. The role includes managing development applications, supporting pre-lodgement processes and liaising with internal teams.

The position is permanent full-time (35 hours per week) with flexible working arrangements and a salary range aligned to NSW Local Government awards.

Qualifications

• Substantial administrative experience including proficient typing and data entry.
• Ability to prepare official documentation and correspondence.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
• Good planning and prioritisation to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Respond to enquiries from developers, Council officers and the community with clear guidance on development requirements.
• Coordinate pre-lodgement meetings and take minutes; manage documentation and attendance requirements.
• Support planning teams in development application processes via the NSW Planning Portal.
