Job summary

Public Sector People is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee Griffith City Council’s Development Assessment. You will coordinate planning staff, drive timely, consistent planning outcomes, and provide high-level advice to management, applicants, stakeholders and elected representatives.

You will apply the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, LEPs, DCPs and SEPPs and lead complex residential, commercial, industrial, rural and subdivision assessments within statutory timeframes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/masters level qualification in town planning or related field.
  • Experience leading development assessment in local government.
  • Strong knowledge of planning instruments and processes.

  • Lead and coordinate the Development Assessment team to ensure efficient, consistent and timely processing of development applications.
  • Manage assessment of complex residential, commercial, industrial, rural and subdivision applications within statutory timeframes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering timely, consistent and customer-focused planning outcomes that support the council's growth and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the assessment of complex residential, commercial, industrial, rural and subdivision development applications in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and statutory timeframes.

  • Strong knowledge of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), Development Control Plans (DCPs), and relevant State planning policies.
