Job summary

Moira Shire Council seeks a Planning and Building Compliance Officer to enforce planning and building legislation and promote sustainable development across the Shire. The role involves field work, risk-based compliance, and active liaison with developers and the community.

The officer will deliver education-based compliance, prioritise enforcement where necessary, and support Moira2045 goals while preserving local character and liveability.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting and enforcing planning and building legislation.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and prioritise compliance activities.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of GIS, document, and complaint management systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compliance activities through enforcement, education and community engagement.
• Apply risk-based compliance strategies to prioritise activities.
• Provide expert advice to developers and stakeholders on planning/building requirements.
• Work across urban and rural areas with internal and external teams.
