About the Opportunity

Join our growing team as a skilled Pipe Welder. You will be responsible for performing welding duties using advanced GTAW processes in the workshops and on board the Collins Class Submarines. Ensure that the highest standards are met while adhering to the safety protocols and project deadlines.

Responsibilities

This position consists of the following major work components:

  • Interpret and understand Fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to set up welding equipment including selecting the appropriate welding methods.
  • Advanced welding techniques in GTAW; Mirror welding, Confined space and restricted techniques will be required.
  • Operate cutting and shaping equipment, such as grinders, saws and cutting torches to prepare material for welding.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Work within a team environment.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform fabrication and welding duties in various positions and environments.

About you

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High Risk Work license.
  • Fabrication or Welding Trade Qualified and proven experience.
  • Advanced welding techniques.
  • Confined Space.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Welding processes GTAW.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Fabricator / Welder.
  • Pipe fitting and Fabrication skills.
  • Working with exotic alloys, copper nickel, SMO stainless, 316 S/S.

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
