Job summary

Bechtel is delivering EPC services for the Eva Copper Project in Cloncurry, QLD, a major greenfield mine development. The Craft Supervisor Pipe/Pipe Testing will lead piping operations, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence on a FIFO 2:1 roster, with night and day shifts as required.

You will supervise craft crews, coordinate testing activities, manage subcontractor support and liaise with other disciplines to meet project needs, while maintaining a strong focus on ES&H and

Qualifications

• 8–10 years' experience in heavy industrial supervision.
• Minimum 5 years pneumatic/hydrostatic testing at supervisory level.
• Flange management, pre-commissioning, oil flushing, air blowing, pigging and drying experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Supervises, coordinates and/or directs craft activities as assigned for the piping disciplines.
• Coordinate craft safety training and enforce safe work practices with ES&H staff.
• Plan craft manpower and interface with IR for recruitment and training.
• Oversee pipe testing crews, subcontractor support, equipment, tools and consumables.
• Collaborate with lead disciplines to meet project requirements and maintain area housekeeping.

Project Overview:

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

The Craft Supervisor Pipe/Pipe Testing is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the Piping discipline. You will ensure assigned construction operations and contractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. This is a FIFO role working 2:1 roster working night shift and day shift when the business need arises.

Major Responsibilities:

• Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Supervises, coordinates and/or directs craft activities as assigned for the piping disciplines.
• Coordinating craft safety training and always enforcing safe work practices in conjunction with the ES&H staff.
• Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.
• Oversight of the needs of the pipe testing crews for craft personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, construction equipment, tools, and consumables as well as optimizing their utilization.
• Working closely with other lead discipline superintendents, supervisors and coordinating efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements.
• Maintaining a high level of housekeeping throughout the work area.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable.
• 8-10 years' experience in similar role within the Heavy Industrial Field.
• Minimum 5 years' pneumatic/hydrostatic testing experience at a Supervisory level.
• Flange Management, Pre-commissioning, Oil Flushing, Air Blowing, Pigging and Drying experience is highly desirable.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Must have knowledge and understanding of construction operations at the jobsite
• Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
• Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME PCC-2, AS 2885, AS 2033, AS 2419 pressure testing requirements.
• Good mechanical understanding of various pressurisation pumps and equipment. Must be safety focused and demonstrate excellent understanding of industry standards.
