Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Craft Supervisor Pipe/Pipe Testing to oversee piping operations on the Eva Copper Mine Project in Cloncurry, QLD. This FIFO role requires strong supervision of craft teams, adherence to ES&H and quality standards, and coordination with multiple disciplines.

You will manage manpower, safety training, and testing activities, ensuring project schedules and budgets are met while maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years in heavy industrial supervisory role.
• Minimum 5 years pneumatic/hydrostatic testing at supervisor level.
• Flange management and pre-commissioning experience.
• Strong communications and site operations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Implement the ES&H program and quality control program.
• Supervise and coordinate piping craft activities.
• Coordinate craft safety training and enforce safe work practices.
• Plan craft manpower and interface with Industrial Relations for recruitment/training.
• Oversee pipe testing crews, subcontractor support and equipment needs.
• Coordinate with lead disciplines to meet project requirements.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in the work area.

Project Overview:

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

The Craft Supervisor Pipe/Pipe Testing is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the Piping discipline. You will ensure assigned construction operations and contractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. This is a FIFO role working 2:1 roster working night shift and day shift when the business need arises.

Major Responsibilities:

• Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.

• Supervises, coordinates and/or directs craft activities as assigned for the piping disciplines.

• Coordinating craft safety training and always enforcing safe work practices in conjunction with the ES&H staff.

• Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.

• Oversight of the needs of the pipe testing crews for craft personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, construction equipment, tools, and consumables as well as optimizing their utilization.

• Working closely with other lead discipline superintendents, supervisors and coordinating efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements.

• Maintaining a high level of housekeeping throughout the work area.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable.

• 8-10 years’ experience in similar role within the Heavy Industrial Field.

• Minimum 5 years’ pneumatic/hydrostatic testing experience at a Supervisory level.

• Flange Management, Pre-commissioning, Oil Flushing, Air Blowing, Pigging and Drying experience is highly desirable.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Must have knowledge and understanding of construction operations at the jobsite

• Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.

• Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.

• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME PCC-2, AS 2885, AS 2033, AS 2419 pressure testing requirements.

• Good mechanical understanding of various pressurisation pumps and equipment. Must be safety focused and demonstrate excellent understanding of industry standards.
