Job summary

JP Thermal Insulation is seeking an experienced Pipe Lagger/Sheet Metal Cladder for an immediate start on a contract (ABN) or casual basis in Canberra, ACT. The role covers insulation and metal cladding on commercial and industrial projects.

You will measure, cut, fit insulation, install cladding, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards with a strong team on-site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Pipe Lagger or Sheet Metal Cladder in construction or industrial sectors.
• Competency with hand and power tools and insulation equipment.
• Strong understanding of insulation principles and metal cladding techniques.
• Good measurement and fitting accuracy; safety awareness on site.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and fit pipe insulation materials to precise specifications.
• Apply insulation to pipes, vessels, and equipment for thermal performance.
• Install sheet metal cladding around insulated areas with weather-tight finish.
• Use rivets, screws, and seals to secure cladding and ensure durability.
• Inspect work for quality and ensure adherence to specs and safety regs.
• Maintain records of materials used and work completed.
• Coordinate with supervisors and trades to pace workflow on site.

JP Thermal Insulation is seeking an experienced Pipe Lagger/Sheet Metal Cladder to join our team on a contract (ABN) or casual basis. Based in Canberra, ACT.

Ready for an immediate start to help push a few jobs over the line within the designated time frame.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and fit pipe insulation materials to precise specifications using appropriate tools and techniques
• Apply insulation to pipes, vessels, and equipment, ensuring optimal thermal performance and protection
• Install and secure sheet metal cladding around insulated areas, maintaining a professional appearance and weathertight finish
• Use various fastening methods including rivets, screws, and seals to secure cladding and ensure durability
• Inspect completed work to verify quality standards and adherence to technical specifications
• Comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations on site
• Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other tradespeople to coordinate work activities
• Transport and store materials safely and appropriately

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Pipe Lagger and/or Sheet Metal Cladder in the construction or industrial sector
• Competency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as shears, brakes, and insulation cutting equipment
• Solid understanding of thermal insulation principles and sheet metal working techniques
• Strong measurement and calculation skills to ensure precise fitting and installation
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including working at heights and confined space entry where applicable
• Current or ability to obtain relevant safety certifications (such as White Card or equivalent)
• Physical fitness and manual dexterity suitable for the demands of the role
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude with strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments
• Experience working on commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable
