Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is seeking an Allied Health Assistant Grade 3 to join the Physiotherapy team. You will work closely with physiotherapists to deliver hands-on care, support mobility and independence across acute Cardiorespiratory and General Medicine units.

You will assist with mobility, supervise therapy sessions and contribute to a multidisciplinary team focused on patient outcomes and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Experience working effectively within a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to follow delegated treatment plans and instructions.
• A willingness to undertake a broad range of patient and non-patient related duties.
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting patients and the Physiotherapy team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver delegated therapy programs under the direction of a physiotherapist, including exercise, mobility, gait aid provision and ADL retraining.
• Support and supervise patients undertaking individual and group exercise and therapy programs.
• Monitor patient participation and progress and accurately report relevant information to the supervising physiotherapist.
• Assist with equipment and resources required for patient care and therapy.
• Communicate effectively with physiotherapists and the broader multidisciplinary team to support coordinated patient care.
• Undertake administrative and operational duties that support the efficient day‑to‑day functioning of the Physiotherapy Department.
