Job summary

Alcoa Australia is seeking a Physiotherapist to provide specialist expertise across our Western Australian operations. The role will be primarily based at the Pinjarra Refinery with periodic travel to Wagerup and Kwinana refineries.

You will lead early intervention, injury assessment, treatment planning, rehabilitation and proactive workplace risk management to maximise employee capacity and safe return to work.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy.
• Registered with AHPRA as a Physiotherapist.
• Experience in outpatient musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
• Experience in exercise rehabilitation and ergonomics is advantageous.
• Industrial experience and WHS knowledge are advantageous.
• Strong communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and triage a physiotherapy caseload with early contact and review via face-to-face, telehealth and phone.
• Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver exercise rehabilitation programmes.
• Partner with employees, leaders and site stakeholders to conduct workplace assessments and provide practical recommendations.
• Assist in education, coaching and guidance for injury management.
• Collaborate with Safety and operational teams on injury investigations and prevention plans using biopsychosocial principles.
• Provide support to Human Factors including ergonomic and psychosocial risk assessments.

About The Role

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Physiotherapist to work across our Western Australian operations, providing specialised expertise in the prevention and management of workplace musculoskeletal disorders.

This role can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis for the right candidate and is offered as a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Pinjarra Refinery, with periodic travel to our Wagerup and Kwinana Refineries as required.

Reporting to the Human Factors Lead, you will apply your specialised knowledge and clinical expertise across a broad scope of activities, including early intervention, injury assessment, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and proactive workplace risk management. Working closely with employees, leaders, and health professionals, you will play a key role in maximising employee capacity, improving recovery outcomes, reducing injury‑related risks, and supporting a safe, healthy, and productive workforce.

In this role, your key responsibilities will involve:

• Manage and triage a physiotherapy caseload in line with clinical priorities and service needs, ensuring early contact, assessment and review of musculoskeletal injuries through a range of consultation methods including face‑to‑face, telehealth and telephone services.
• Conduct clinical assessments of musculoskeletal disorders, develop treatment and management plans, and deliver evidence‑based physiotherapy treatment and exercise rehabilitation programmes to support recovery and return to work outcomes.
• Partner with employees, leaders, rehabilitation consultants and site stakeholders to conduct workplace assessments, provide practical recommendations, and improve rehabilitation case management outcomes and timeframes.
• Assist in the development and delivery of education, coaching and guidance for personnel involved in the injury management process, building capability and understanding in musculoskeletal injury prevention, assessment and management.
• Work collaboratively with Safety and operational teams to contribute to injury investigations, identify contributing factors, develop preventative action plans, and apply biopsychosocial principles to musculoskeletal injury prevention and management.
• Provide support to the Human Factors team as required, including the completion of ergonomic and psychosocial risk assessments and contributing to broader workplace health, wellbeing and injury prevention initiatives.

What You Can Bring To The Role

• Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy with progression towards a post graduate qualification would be well regarded.
• Being registered with the appropriate professional body, AHPRA, as a Physiotherapist.
• Demonstrated relevant clinical experience with a proven track record in outpatient musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
• Experience in exercise rehabilitation, Human Factors & Ergonomics, strength training or Occupational Physiotherapy would be well regarded.
• Previous industrial experience with a sound understanding of current work, health and safety legislation and a demonstrated ability to adopt a risk management approach to injury prevention and management would be well regarded.
• Distinct ability to communicate well across all levels of the organisation, with profound interpersonal skills would be well regarded.
• Efficient and effective time management, and caseload management skills would be well regarded.
