Job summary

KBR is seeking a Physical & Functional Configuration Auditor (PCA/FCA) for a permanent full-time position based out of Garden Island, Sydney. You will help maintain configuration data integrity and support PCA/FCA activities across the ACS CLCM, ensuring auditable baselines and governance alignment.

The role requires at least 5 years in engineering (defence preferred), experience with CMT‑U/AMPS/SCPM, and an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. ITAR clearance eligibility is also necessary.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering role (preferably Defence).
  • Experience in CMT‑U, AMPS & Stock Control and Planned Maintenance (SCPM).
  • Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
  • Active Baseline Defence Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Configuration Team under the Configuration and Data Manager and execute day-to-day activities per the Configuration Management & Audit Plan.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Team, Ship Leads and Waterfront Engineers to ensure compliance with the plan.
  • Apply Configuration Management techniques in Navy Maritime Asset contexts, making decisions on configuration changes.

Opportunity

The Physical & Functional Configuration Auditor (PCA/FCA) is a permanent full-time opportunity based out of Garden Island, Sydney. As a Configuration Management professional, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of configuration data and baselines across the ACS CLCM. You will support the planning and execution of Physical and Functional Configuration Audits (PCA/FCA), conduct configuration compliance activities, and provide Configuration Status Accounting services to stakeholders. You will ensure configuration information remains accurate, auditable, and aligned to established baselines and governance requirements. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives, manages responses to external audits and corrective actions, and promotes professional development through ongoing skills growth and best-practice adoption.

Responsibilities

Under broad direction and in consultation with the Configuration and Data Manager, actively assist the Configuration Team and other stakeholders. Execute day to day activities in accordance with the Configuration Management & Audit Plan. Liaise closely with the Engineering Team, Ship Leads and Waterfront Engineers responsible for the ACS CLCM to ensure compliance to the Configuration Management & Audit Plan. Independently apply Configuration Management techniques in the context of Systems Engineering on Navy Maritime Assets, make decisions on Configuration change, and represent the team in Configuration Control Boards. Safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of those within the organisation.

What we require
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering role (preferably within the Defence industry).
  • Experience in CMT‑U, AMPS & Stock Control and Planned Maintenance (SCPM).
  • Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
  • All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
  • Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Diploma, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised Engineering related discipline.
  • Experience in the Department of Defence.
