Job summary

Centre for Pain IMPACT at UNSW Medicine & Health invites applications for a fully funded PhD project starting 2027. The PhD will apply precision medicine to low back pain using causal inference and machine learning across national health databases and trial data.

The project includes a tax-free stipend of 39,991 AUD per year for 3.5 years and a 25,000 AUD Global Mobility Grant for international research and travel.

Qualifications

• Honours I/IIA, a research Masters, or an equivalent qualification (e.g. coursework Masters with substantial research).
• Australian domestic candidates only.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interdisciplinary research on precision medicine for back pain.
• Apply causal inference and machine learning to health databases and clinical trial data.
• Collaborate with UNSW and Harvard teams and disseminate findings.
