Gateway Health in Northeast Victoria is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the MERPS program, delivering evidence-based pharmacotherapy and holistic care for individuals with opioid use disorder. You will contribute to a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach ensuring safety and quality of care across a rural setting.

The role focuses on clinical assessment, medication management, harm reduction strategies, and collaboration with AOD professionals to support recovery and wellbeing

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse looking to be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team focused on driving positive outcomes for individuals experiencing opioid use disorder (OUD). Join our MERPS (Multidisciplinary Enhanced Rural Pharmacotherapy Service) Program – a vital part of our comprehensive AOD (Alcohol and Other Drug) services.

The MERPS Program delivers opioid agonist therapy (OAT) in line with national and state clinical guidelines, aiming to reduce the health, social, and economic harms associated with opioid dependence. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people and their families navigating substance use and recovery.

As a Pharmacotherapy Registered Nurse (PRN), you will:

• Provide holistic, client-centred care to individuals with OUD.
• Work within your RN Scope of Practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
• Monitor pharmacotherapy medications for efficacy and safety, educate clients on medication use, and manage adverse drug reactions.
• Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, risk assessments, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Collaborate with a wide range of AOD professionals to ensure a coordinated and integrated care approach.
• Deliver evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions including harm reduction, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation.
• Support ongoing service development through education, leadership, and input into policy and procedural improvement.
