Job summary

East Coast Compounding, a non-PBS specialised compounding pharmacy in Australia, seeks a pharmacist who can contribute clinical expertise to patient care and customised formulations.

You will engage with prescribers and patients to optimise therapy, learn niche conditions and provide integral compounding and counselling support within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• AHPRA-registered pharmacist (or eligible for registration).
• Warm, approachable personality with strong communication with patients and colleagues.
• Solid clinical knowledge and genuine interest in pharmacology.
• Curiosity about compounding, integrative medicine, or nutraceuticals.
• Natural problem solver when formulation challenges or prescriber queries aren't textbook.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow documented SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing and clinical checking as part of general pharmacist duties.
• Compound non-sterile formulations across dosage forms per prescription.
• Counsel patients on compounded medications, prescriptions and nutraceuticals.
• Learn niche conditions and treatment protocols, including integrative approaches.
• Liaise with prescribers on formulation queries and supplement dispensing.
• Contribute to quality assurance and documentation.

We work across a range of niche and complex conditions. That means you'll be constantly learning, diving into treatment protocols, understanding how compounded formulations and complementary medicines work together and becoming the pharmacist that prescribers actually want to talk to.

What we're looking for is a pharmacist with strong clinical foundations, a warm and bubbly personality, and the kind of mind that enjoys working through problems rather than just following a script.

Responsibilities

• General pharmacist duties including dispensing, clinical checking, over-the-counter consultations, etc
• Compounding non-sterile formulations to prescription across a range of dosage forms (including capsules, troches, suspensions, transdermals and more!)
• Patient counselling on compounded medications, prescription medicines and practitioner-range nutraceuticals
• Building knowledge of niche conditions and their treatment protocols, including complementary and integrative medicine approaches
• Liaising with prescribers (medical, dermatology, integrative and veterinary) on formulation queries
• Advising on and dispensing practitioner-range supplements
• Contributing to quality assurance and documentation

Requirements

• AHPRA-registered pharmacist (or eligible for registration)
• A warm, approachable personality and someone patients and colleagues genuinely enjoy talking to
• Strong foundational clinical knowledge and genuine interest in pharmacology
• A genuine passion for understanding niche and complex conditions, their treatment protocols, and how compounded and complementary medicines fit into the picture
• A natural problem solver who gets energised, not frustrated, when a formulation challenge or prescriber query doesn't have an obvious textbook answer
• Curiosity about compounding, integrative medicine, or nutraceuticals
• Excellent communication skills for daily interaction with patients and prescribers
• Attention to detail and comfort working to documented standard operating procedures

Preferred but not essential

• Training or experience in non-sterile compounding
• ACNEM (Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine) accreditation or study
• Existing interest or knowledge in complementary medicines and integrative treatment protocols

Full compounding and practitioner range training provided.
