Western Power is seeking a Government Relations Specialist for a 12‑month secondment in Perth CBD. You will support engagement with government and external stakeholders, providing policy advice, issue management and strategies to protect the organisation's reputation and interests.

You will coordinate stakeholder activities, prepare ministerial briefings, and build strong relationships with ministers, agencies, regulators, and community groups, while ensuring compliance with statutory

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a political/government setting or advocacy/non-for-profit sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to manage complex issues and provide strategic advice.
• Understanding of state or federal parliamentary systems and processes.
• Knowledge of electricity industry regulatory framework is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Lead strategic stakeholder engagement activities with government and external stakeholders.
• Prepare ministerial briefings, issue notes, parliamentary question responses and government-facing communications.
• Build and maintain relationships with Ministers, MPs, agencies, regulators and community groups.
• Support advocacy agenda through stakeholder engagement and policy advice.
• Advise internal teams on external stakeholder issues and reputation management.
• Monitor energy policy and regulatory developments and assess impact on Western Power.
• Provide strategic advice to executives on government, stakeholder and reputational considerations.
• Ensure compliance with legislative and reporting obligations for a Government Trading Enterprise.
