Job summary

Respect Lyrebird Village in Drouin, Victoria, invites compassionate Personal Care Assistants to join as Casual staff. You’ll support residents with daily living, mobility, hygiene, and emotional care, helping them maintain independence and dignity in a warm, community-focused environment.

As part of a not-for-profit organisation, you’ll work with a friendly care team, adhere to individual care plans, and contribute to daily living activities.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in aged care or community care is desirable.
• Passion for providing high-quality care to older people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive, team-focused attitude.
• Ability to work across weekends if required.
• Understanding of person-centred care principles.
• Current National Police Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
• Support mobility, transfers, meals, hydration, and daily living activities.
• Build respectful relationships with residents and families.
• Observe and report changes in residents' health and wellbeing.
• Work with Registered Nurses and care team to follow care plans.
• Maintain documentation and support participation in activities.

About the Role

As a Casual Personal Care Assistant at Lyrebird Village, you will play an important role in supporting our residents to live a life well-lived through compassionate, person-centred care.

Working closely with our nursing team and wider care staff, you'll provide practical and emotional support while helping residents maintain their dignity, independence, comfort, and wellbeing.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:

• Providing personal care, including assistance with showering, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
• Supporting residents with mobility, transfers, and safe manual handling practicesAssisting with meals, hydration, and daily living activities
• Building meaningful and respectful relationships with residents and their families
• Observing and reporting changes in residents' health, wellbeing, and behaviour
• Working collaboratively with Registered Nurses and the broader care team
• Following individual care plans and maintaining accurate documentation
• Supporting residents to participate in lifestyle activities and maintain independence
• Promoting a safe, comfortable, and positive living environment

To Be Considered, You Will Have:

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing), Aged Care, or an equivalent qualification
• Previous experience in aged care, community care, disability support, or a similar role (desirable)
• A genuine passion for providing high-quality care to older people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive, team-focused attitude
• The ability to work across a variety of shifts, including weekends if required
