Job summary

John Holland is seeking an experienced Permit Officer to support the Permit to Work system during commissioning and energisation of the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. You will review and administer permit applications, coordinate isolations, and ensure safe delivery aligned with project procedures.

Reporting to the Permit to Work Manager, you will conduct field inspections, maintain accurate permit records, and participate in audits and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience as Permit Officer or similar PTW role on major projects.
• Knowledge of PTW systems, LOTO, energisation controls.
• Ability to review SWMS and permit documentation.
• Strong admin and document-control skills.
• Clear communication with supervisors and trades.

Responsibilities

• Review permit applications and supporting docs (work scopes, SWMS, risk assessments).
• Prepare, issue, revalidate, suspend, cancel and close permits within authorisation.
• Brief Permit Holders on scopes, conditions and controls.
• Maintain permit, isolation, lock box and authorised-person registers.
• Complete workfront inspections before issue and during activities.
• Monitor compliance and stop work if unsafe or out of scope.
• Support daily permit planning, SIMOPS coordination and energisation.
• Participate in PTW audits, inspections and incident reviews.
