Job summary

MacKillop Family Services in New South Wales is seeking a Coordinator to provide operational leadership, ensure compliance with policy, OOHC standards, and DCJ requirements, and deliver high‑quality services for children, young people and families.

You will lead collaboration with caseworkers on restoration, guardianship and adoption, supervise staff, manage budgets, prepare reports, and drive continuous service improvement under a fixed term contract from Sep 2026 to Jun 2027.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and current issues affecting Aboriginal children and families.
• Tertiary qualification in social work, community services, management or related field.
• Understanding of child protection frameworks and statutory requirements.
• Proven leadership and staff supervision abilities.
• Experience in program management, service development and foster care contexts.
• Ability to deliver positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong initiative, planning, organizing and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure targets are met under the PSP DCJ contract.
• Manage services within budget and strategic/operational plans.
• Provide data and reports in line with MacKillop and DCJ requirements.
• Develop and implement casework strategies supporting permanency principles.
• Address staffing issues, document actions, and inform the Regional Manager.
• Oversee staff recruitment and make recommendations for selection.
• Ensure new staff induction and ongoing support per procedures.
• Oversee student placements and volunteers with appropriate supervision.
• Supervise workloads, track time sheets, leave, and overtime in consultation.
• Collaborate with the Regional Manager on workloads and case practice supervision.
• Promote staff growth, training and development opportunities.
• Facilitate team meetings and reflective practice with stakeholders.
