Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District seeks a Perinatal Family Conferencing Coordinator to lead the PFC program across maternity services. Based in Sydney with district-wide travel, the role requires advanced trauma-informed clinical expertise and the ability to coordinate across SESLHD and DCJ.

The successful candidate will mentor facilitators, drive quality improvement, and ensure culturally safe service development while contributing to evaluation and reporting efforts.

Qualifications

• Extensive post-graduate clinical experience in trauma-specific service provision in violence, abuse and neglect.
• Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or a 4-year degree in Psychology with APHRA registration.
• Strong negotiation, advocacy and interagency collaboration skills.
• Ability to provide clinical supervision and lead quality improvement initiatives.

Be part of the dynamic and supportive Counselling Violence Prevention & Response team in Child Youth & Family Services. You will work with both operational and strategic staff that provide counselling and violence abuse and neglect services to children, young people ad families. What you'll be doing

Perinatal Family Conferencing (PFC) is a strengths based, trauma informed program delivered in partnership with the Department of Communities and Justice ( DCJ) that provides an empowering structured framework for families and services to have transparent conversations about child protection issues through the use of family conferencing in the perinatal period.

The Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge in order to deliver a high-quality Perinatal Family Conferencing Program to identified clients of maternity services across SESLHD consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

This role includes responsibilities for consulting across SESLHD in the area of expertise, coordinating the program in partnership with DCJ, establishing a sustainable network of facilitators, provision of mentoring and supervision to facilitators, leadership of quality improvement initiatives, leadership in evaluation and reporting on the PFC Program, development of service improvements including ensuring cultural safety, and provision of training to facilitators ,health workers and interagency partners.

Selection Criteria

• Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award, and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or a 4-year degree in Psychology, along with full registration with APHRA and a minimum 8 years' experience post full registration.
• Extensive post graduate clinical experience in trauma specific service provision in violence, abuse and neglect with demonstrated ability to provide consultation within and external to the organisation.
• Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
• Proven ability to provide high level clinical advice and education to enhance service delivery including demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision around violence abuse and neglect issues, in addition to a demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, work in partnership with key stakeholders and to apply independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a complex nature.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes
• Demonstrated experience in providing advice to managers on clinical service development, practice change and service redesign.
