Wesley Mission Queensland in Brisbane is seeking an experienced HR practitioner with strong employee relations capabilities to join the People and Culture function on a permanent basis. The role focuses on guiding leaders through performance, conduct issues, investigations and other people matters with practical, well-documented outcomes.
You will partner with managers to support sound decisions, provide coaching, and contribute to policy improvements and education as the ER function develops.
Wesley Mission Queensland is a large Queensland based not for profit organisation delivering aged care and community services. Its people support individuals and communities through work that makes a meaningful difference every day.
The People and Culture function is evolving, with a focus on strengthening manager capability, improving people practices and building closer connections across the organisation.
This permanent Brisbane opportunity combines employee relations, manager coaching and practical business partnering across an allocated portfolio.
Employee relations will be central to the role. You will guide leaders through performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and other people matters, from initial advice through to documentation, follow up and risk escalation where needed.
You will work directly with managers, helping them understand their options, make sound decisions and handle matters with greater confidence.
You will also contribute to policy and process improvements, manager education, engagement survey action planning and succession planning as the partnering model continues to develop.
This role will suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail, building relationships and turning advice into practical action.
You are an experienced HR practitioner with strong employee relations capability. You may already be a Business Partner or a capable Senior HR Adviser ready to take on broader portfolio responsibility.
You can manage ER matters with confidence, apply relevant legislation, industrial instruments and policy frameworks, and prepare clear documentation that supports fair and considered decision making.
You communicate clearly, coach managers well and know when to work independently, ask for guidance or escalat[e] risk.
Experience in aged care, community services or another complex, regulated environment would be valuable.
You are warm, practical and steady under pressure. You take ownership of your work, follow through on commitments and build trust with leaders, colleagues and stakeholders.
You are comfortable working in a developing environment where processes are still being improved. You can connect with the team, ask questions when needed and keep moving when the day is busy or unclear.
You bring initiative, patience and sound judgement, with a genuine interest in helping managers lift their capability.
This is an opportunity to use your employee relations and business partnering experience in an organisation with a clear community purpose.
The role offers hybrid working, with two days from home and three days in the office, including a shared Thursday team day. A car allowance supports portfolio related travel and site visits.
You will have regular check-ins with your manager, access to senior ER guidance and opportunities to contribute to manager education and broader people initiatives as the partnering model develops.
