Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Matrix Education is seeking an HR generalist with a bias for recruitment to help grow our casual teacher and tutor workforce. You will partner with hiring managers, implement AI-assisted tools, and own onboarding processes while Employment Hero data stays accurate to enable reliable reporting.
You'll work directly with the Head of P&C in a small, high-trust function, shaping policies and culture initiatives as Matrix expands nationally and evolves its Matrix+ platform.
Matrix Education is Australia's leading and fastest-growing tuition college for ambitious students from Year 3 to Year 12. For over 25 years, we've helped tens of thousands of students achieve their academic goals through remarkable teaching, fanatical customer support, and exceptional outcomes.
We're now in the middle of something exciting. Matrix is expanding nationally, growing our online platform Matrix+, and re-thinking what new techniques and technologies can unlock within our already world-class learning programs. Matrix+ already has several thousand enrolments each year, but we see enormous potential in bringing the Matrix brand of education to more students through this digital channel.
You'll start by running recruitment for our casual teacher and tutor workforce, building the talent pipeline, working hand in hand with hiring managers, and using Employment Hero and AI-assisted hiring tools to do it well. As the business grows and the function matures, the role will naturally evolve with it, opening up into onboarding, reporting, and culture work. You won't stay fixed in recruitment; you'll grow into the full breadth of P&C as Matrix needs it.
You will work directly with and be mentored by our Head of P&C, a senior HR leader who genuinely wants to develop the person in this role, not just fill a seat. This is a real opportunity to take the next step in your career inside a small, high-trust function where your impact is visible and your growth is deliberate.
You might currently be in a larger, more established HR team, and you're ready for something smaller and more hands-on by choice. You know what structure and process look like, and now you want to build them yourself rather than operate inside someone else's. Equally, you might already be working in a small or mid-size environment and know exactly what that trade-off involves. Either way, you're making a conscious call to own more, earlier.
You don't need a background in education. What you need is strong recruitment instincts, genuine comfort with ambiguity, and the drive to grow into more.
This is important to us. We're not looking for someone who wants a function handed to them, fully formed. We want someone who sees a still-forming remit as real opportunity, and who treats "no one's decided how this should work yet" as an invitation, not a red flag.
