Auto & General (A&G) is seeking a seasoned People Business Partner to partner with frontline operations, delivering commercially focused people solutions and cultivating strong relationships with General Managers down to operational leaders.

You will drive the people plan, support organisational design, and partner with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure high-quality P&C services across business units.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in HR, Law, Business or related field.
• 3–5 years in HR generalist or People Business Partner role, fast-paced environment preferred.
• Strong communication skills with leaders across levels.
• Experience in managing end-to-end ER cases and employee relations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the People Plan in collaboration with the Senior Business Partner.

The Role

Works with the Senior Business Partner to strategically partner across frontline operations to deliver commercially focused people solutions to their respective divisions, cultivating strong relationships with General Managers down to operational Leaders. This role is accountable for delivering the people plan, delivering operational excellence and contributing to the achievement of the key people metrics. The People Business Partner acts as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, driving effective people practices and fostering a positive workplace culture, driving organisational outcomes and maximising people impact on business goals.

Position Accountabilities

• Drives the delivery of the functional People Plan in close coordination with the People Advisor.
• Actively partner with business unit leaders to understand their strategic objectives and translate these into practical P&C initiatives that support business performance and growth.
• Drive the implementation of key P&C programmes and initiatives within assigned business units, ensuring alignment with the overarching People Plan and P&C strategy.
• Provide advice and guidance to leaders on a broad range of P&C matters, including talent management, performance management, employee engagement, compensation, and organisational design.
• Collaborate with P&C Centres of Excellence (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Learning & Organisational Development, Reward) to ensure integrated and effective delivery of P&C services.
• Act as a P&C representative and subject matter expert for all cyclical HR activities, guiding business leaders through processes to deliver high quality outputs.
• Maintain oversight of end-to-end employee relations (ER) cases in collaboration with the People Advisor, including investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
• Provide proactive advice to leaders on employee and industrial relations issues, interpreting relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and legislation.

What experience you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualification in HR, Law, Business, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a HR generalist or People Business Partner role, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident and influential communicator with an ability to engage effectively with leaders
• Demonstrated experience in managing end-to-end employee relations cases and providing advice on employment law matters.
• Proficiency in interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements, modern awards, and relevant HR legislation.
• Ability to balance conflicting priorities within a changing environment.
• Commercial acumen, high attention to detail and strong ability to synthesise information, analyse data and provide actionable insights
• Discretion and confidentiality is mandatory
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite/Google Workspace and HR Information Systems (HRIS)
