Job summary

Ocean Grove Primary School in Geelong is seeking a health-support professional to assist students with complex health needs and disabilities. You will manage medications, enteral feeds, and respond to health incidents within the school setting.

The role emphasises teamwork with families, therapists and teachers to coordinate care plans and ensure safe, supportive learning during school hours, with potential job-sharing arrangements.

Qualifications

• KSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with physical disability and complex health needs.
• KSC2: Experience in the management of health emergencies applicable to a school setting or transferable.
• KSC3: Knowledge and experience in supporting enteral feeds, respiratory/neurological conditions incl. epilepsy.
• KSC4: Aptitude for collaborating with families of people with disabilities and impairments.
• KSC5: Ability to work in a transdisciplinary team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Liaison with families, doctors, school staff and Therapists as required
• Management and administration of medications, including documentation
• Management and administration of enteral feeds
• Assessment and management of student if presenting with a seizure
• Management of student respiratory issues including suctioning and oxygen therapy
• Providing relevant assistance to teachers in the management of the student
• Attendance at meetings as required by the school
• Adherence to the Department of Education and the school's policies and procedures
• Maintain up to date student files, accident/incident records and case notes
• Ensuring, where applicable, annual medical plans and their associated medications e.g. asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes are up to date
• Assisting teachers, within an educational program by undertaking specific support tasks
