Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Coburg VIC is seeking an experienced Traditional Occupational Therapist for the Thriving Kids program to support children aged 0-8 with developmental delay or autism across education, health and community settings.

You will use evidence-informed OT assessment and time-limited interventions, partnering with families to build skills and confidence for daily activities and routines in home and school environments.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and early intervention principles.
• Experience applying family-centered practice in pediatric settings.
• Ability to apply clinical reasoning to OT assessments and interventions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with families and professionals.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to culturally safe, inclusive, and strengths-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-informed OT assessment, intervention and advice tailored to each child and family.
• Collaborate with families to build parents' knowledge and confidence for daily routines.
• Deliver targeted, time-limited support to help children participate in everyday life.
• Adapt approaches across home, early childhood and school environments.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate responses and share expertise.
• Build partnerships with early childhood services, schools and health/community services.
