Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria is seeking a Team Leader, Payroll Services, to guide a payroll team in delivering accurate pay and benefits on time for a 12-month fixed-term role.

You will coordinate fortnightly pay, resolve complex pay issues, and coach staff, with CHRIS21 or other payroll systems, reporting to the Payroll Services Manager. Applicants should have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll and human resources, including government salary packaging and high volumes of pay transactions.
• Strong skills in CHRIS21 or other payroll systems.
• Ability to explain policies and laws, solve pay problems and suggest practical improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach payroll team to deliver accurate pay and benefits on time.
• Coordinate fortnightly pay, manage overpayments and recognise prior service requests.
• Investigate complex pay issues and advise payroll staff and regional colleagues.
• Check pay and benefits, calculate termination payments and keep accurate records.
• Improve payroll processes and run information sessions to help teams understand and use services.
