Job summary

South Coast Baptist College is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join our HR team and support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for College and Childcare employees.

You will work with the Payroll Manager to ensure timely, compliant payroll, maintain employee records, handle inquiries, and contribute to reporting and payroll administration in a Christian education setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar payroll role.
• Qualifications in Payroll, Accounting or related field.
• Experience using payroll software and systems.
• Knowledge of payroll processes, legislation, modern awards and enterprise agreements.
• Understanding of PAYG withholding and superannuation requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Proactive approach and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Genuine commitment to Christian faith and ability to provide a reference from a Pastor or Christian leader.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare employees accurately and within required timeframes.
• Set up new employees and maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
• Collect and verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies.
• Process leave applications and maintain appropriate records.
• Monitor and manage the Payroll inbox and respond to staff enquiries.
• Prepare payroll, workforce and month-end reports as required.
• Assist with salary sacrifice arrangements and payroll-related claims and investigations.
• Assist with Centrelink Employment Separation Certificates and Workers Compensation matters.
• Support the Payroll Manager with payroll and HR-related activities as required.
