Job summary

South Coast Baptist College is seeking a Payroll Officer to join the HR team in a 0.8–1.0 FTE, permanent role in Western Australia. You will work with the Payroll Manager to deliver accurate, timely payroll for College and Childcare employees and maintain confidential records.

Qualifications in Payroll or Accounting and experience with payroll software are essential, along with knowledge of PAYG withholding, superannuation, and modern awards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar payroll role.
• Qualifications in Payroll, Accounting or related field.
• Experience using payroll software and systems.
• Knowledge of payroll processes, employment legislation, modern awards and enterprise agreements.
• Understanding of PAYG withholding and superannuation requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Proactive approach and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Commitment to Christian faith and ability to provide a pastoral reference.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare employees accurately and within required timeframes.
• Set up new employees and maintain accurate payroll records.
• Collect and verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies.
• Process leave applications and maintain records.
• Monitor and respond to the Payroll inbox and staff enquiries.
• Prepare payroll, workforce and month-end reports as required.
• Assist with salary sacrifice arrangements and payroll-related claims and investigations.
• Assist with Centrelink Employment Separation Certificates and Workers Compensation matters.
• Support the Payroll Manager with payroll and HR-related activities.
