Job summary

South Coast Baptist College invites applications for a Payroll Officer to join the HR team. You will manage fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare staff, set up new employees, verify timesheets, handle leave, and generate payroll and month-end reports within deadlines.

Working with the Payroll Manager, you will ensure accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with awards and legislation. The role supports Centrelink processes and payroll-related queries in a faith-aligned environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar payroll role.
• Qualifications in Payroll, Accounting or related field.
• Experience using payroll software and systems.
• Knowledge of payroll processes, employment legislation, modern awards and enterprise agreements.
• Understanding of PAYG withholding and superannuation requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Proactive approach and prioritisation of tasks.
• Commitment to Christian faith and the ethos of South Coast Baptist College; pastor reference if requested.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare employees accurately and within required timeframes.
• Set up new employees and maintain payroll records.
• Collect and verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies.
• Process leave applications and maintain records.
• Monitor Payroll inbox and respond to staff enquiries.
• Prepare payroll, workforce and month-end reports.
• Assist with salary sacrifice arrangements and payroll-related claims.
• Assist with Centrelink documents and Workers Compensation matters.
• Support Payroll Manager with payroll and HR activities.
