Job summary

Genesis Christian College is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team. This role manages end-to-end fortnightly payroll across multiple Awards, ensuring accurate, compliant and on-time payment for staff of ~350.

It combines payroll expertise with broader finance tasks in a Christ-centred school. Ideal candidates will have payroll experience, knowledge of Australian legislation and a commitment to confidentiality, with a proactive, service-focused attitude and a Christian

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience processing payroll, timesheets, leave and adjustments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks.
• Experience in a school or not-for-profit environment is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end fortnightly payroll across multiple Awards and agreements.
• Process timesheets, leave transactions and payroll adjustments accurately.
• Calculate back pays, termination payments and reconciliations.
• Prepare and process employee superannuation payments.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and enterprise agreements.
• Maintain accurate employee records and respond to payroll enquiries.
• Support the broader Finance team as required.

Genesis Christian College is seeking an experienced and highly organised Payroll Officer to join our dynamic Finance team. About the role:

As our Payroll Officer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process across multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements, ensuring employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time.

This is a diverse and hands-on role that combines payroll expertise with broader finance administration responsibilities, requiring exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality and customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process for approx. 350 staff
• Processing timesheets, leave transactions and payroll adjustments
• Calculating back pays, termination payments and payroll reconciliations
• Preparing and processing employee superannuation payments
• Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreement
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records
• Responding to payroll enquiries from employees across the College
• Supporting the broader Finance team as required
• About You

You should be an experienced payroll professional who takes pride in accuracy, confidentiality and exceptional service. You enjoy working with people, solving problems, and ensuring every detail is correct.

To be successful, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience processing payroll, timesheets, leave and payroll adjustments
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality
• Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritise competing tasks
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A positive, proactive and service-oriented attitude
• An active Christian faith
• Business and/or accounting qualifications
• Previous payroll experience within a school or not-for-profit organisation
• Experience using TASS
