Job summary

TwoScots Recruitment's client is a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation seeking a Payroll Specialist for a temporary assignment within its People & Culture team. The role offers hybrid flexibility and full-time hours, with four days per week considered for the right person, located near public transport.

You will prepare and validate payroll data, review payments, deductions and leave balances, and investigate discrepancies. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive end-to-end payroll processing experience.
• Ability to interpret modern awards and enterprise agreements.
• Experience reviewing and correcting payroll discrepancies and adjustments.
• Proactive approach to improving payroll controls and processes.
• Clear, professional communication with employees across diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and validate payroll data for submission to external payroll provider.
• Review payroll reports, payments, deductions and leave balances for accuracy.
• Investigate discrepancies and coordinate necessary corrections and adjustments.
• Review award classifications, pay rates, allowances, travel and EA conditions.
• Respond to employee payroll queries and explain outcomes clearly.
• Improve payroll controls and processes to reduce manual intervention.

• Preparing and validating payroll data before submission to the external payroll provider
• Reviewing payroll reports and checking payments, deductions and leave balances for accuracy
• Investigating discrepancies and coordinating corrections and adjustments
• Reviewing award classifications, pay rates, travel and overnight allowances, and enterprise agreement conditions
• Responding to employee payroll queries and explaining outcomes clearly
• Improving payroll controls and processes to reduce manual intervention

Skills & Experience

• Strong end to end payroll experience, including award and enterprise agreement interpretation
• Confidence investigating pay, leave and system discrepancies
• Experience with complex classifications, allowances or mixed employment arrangements
• A curious, proactive approach to problem solving
• Clear communication skills and an interest in working with people from diverse backgrounds
