Job summary

Dubbo Regional Council is seeking a Payroll Officer (Parental Leave) to manage end-to-end payroll for hundreds of employees in a complex environment. You will interpret awards, ensure compliance, and support employees with timely, accurate payroll processing.

The role is based in Dubbo, NSW, on a parental leave contract up to 18 months, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality and collaboration within the People Culture & Safety team.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in payroll and/or accounting within a medium to large organisation.
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
• Experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll activities, including timesheets, leave entitlements, allowances, deductions and employee record maintenance.
• Support employees with payroll enquiries and provide exceptional customer service across the organisation.
• Contribute to payroll system improvements, online timesheet processes and continuous service enhancements.
• Develop expertise in award interpretation, payroll compliance, reporting and audit requirements within a large organisation.
• Work with a supportive team that values collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
