Dubbo Regional Council is seeking a Payroll Officer (Parental Leave) to manage end-to-end payroll for hundreds of employees in a complex environment. You will interpret awards, ensure compliance, and support employees with timely, accurate payroll processing.
The role is based in Dubbo, NSW, on a parental leave contract up to 18 months, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality and collaboration within the People Culture & Safety team.

As a Payroll Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring hundreds of Council employees are paid accurately and on time. You'll work across a diverse and complex payroll environment, building specialist knowledge in awards, payroll compliance, system enhancements and employee support.
With exposure to local government payroll, opportunities to contribute ideas and process improvements, and the backing of an experienced team, this is a role where you can expand your skills, grow your confidence and make a real difference every pay cycle.
Processing end-to-end payroll activities, including timesheets, leave entitlements, allowances, deductions and employee record maintenance.
Supporting employees with payroll enquiries and providing exceptional customer service across the organisation.
Contributing to payroll system improvements, online timesheet processes and continuous service enhancements.
Developing your expertise in award interpretation, payroll compliance, reporting and audit requirements within a large and diverse organisation.
Working alongside a supportive and knowledgeable team that values collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
To thrive in this role, you will need:
Demonstrated experience in payroll and/or accounting functions within a medium to large organisation.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
The confidence to be proactive, contribute ideas and work collaboratively within a team environment.
A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
Experience interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and managing complex payroll processes.

Experience providing payroll services in an electronic or self-service payroll environment.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $76,485 to $88,889 plus superannuation.
