Job summary

Peabody Energy invites a skilled Payroll Officer to join the PBS team at Wilpinjong Mine, NSW. This on-site role delivers accurate, timely payroll services for the site and supports other Australian sites as needed.

You will manage data capture for time & attendance in UKG/Kronos and SAP ECP, maintain compliance with Australian payroll legislation, and partner with HR and site leaders to drive payroll excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience processing Australian payroll.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience using SAP Employee Central, SAP ECP and UKG/Kronos.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation, STP, enterprise agreements and awards.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience processing payrolls, including managing data for complex rosters and time & attendance arrangements.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and intermediate Excel skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and strict payroll deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Able to work independently, while building strong relationships with site and corporate stakeholders, as well as the broader national payroll team located at other locations in NSW and QLD.
  • Mining industry experience is highly regarded but not essential.

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy of all data inputs, timeliness and compliance with all requirements (including agreements, awards and company policy).
  • Administer and validate time and attendance information through UKG (Kronos) and SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
  • Investigate and resolve payroll-related enquiries from employees, supervisors, HR and operational leaders.
  • Provide training and support to employees and supervisors using UKG and payroll-related systems.
  • Collaborate with HR and site stakeholders regarding roster changes, employment changes, enterprise agreements and payroll impacts.
  • Assist with various payroll-related statutory and reporting requirements.
  • Support payroll audits, process improvements, documentation updates and data integrity activities.

Our Wilpinjong Mine is an open-cut coal mining operation located in the western coalfields of New South Wales, approximately 40–50 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, near the village of Wollar.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Peabody Business Services (PBS) team. You will deliver accurate, timely and compliant payroll services for our Wilpinjong site, while supporting other Australian sites as required.

Working closely with site leadership teams, employees, HR and the national payroll function, you will ensure payroll and time & attendance data is accurately captured, maintained and processed. This role also plays an important part in supporting system administration, answering employee enquiries, assisting with payroll-related compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a full-time, on‑site role based at Wilpinjong Mine.
