Peabody Energy, Inc. seeks an experienced Open Pit Mine Surveyor to join our Technical Services team at Wilpinjong Mine in NSW. You will deliver accurate survey data, pit set-outs, stockpile surveys, and drone-based mapping to support mining operations.

You will work with modern survey technology and a collaborative team, reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor. This role offers a stable full-time roster and opportunities for career development in a dynamic open-cut mining environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Surveying.
• Proven experience working as a Mine Surveyor within an open-cut mining environment.
• Experience using Trimble GPS equipment and Vulcan software.
• Exposure to PointStudio, drone survey and data processing software will be highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and data quality.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily survey pickups and set-outs to support safe and efficient mining operations.
• Generate accurate as-built models, volume calculations and reporting using Vulcan software.
• Operate Trimble GPS equipment and conduct UAV drone surveys to collect and process spatial data.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on mine design, planning and infrastructure projects.
• Maintain survey control systems, data integrity and survey data management processes.
• Complete machine guidance calibration, validation and operational checks.

Our Wilpinjong Mine is an open-cut coal mining operation located in the western coalfields of New South Wales, approximately 40–50 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, near the village of Wollar. Wilpinjong produces high-quality thermal coal for both domestic and export energy markets and is one of Peabody’s most productive and lowest-cost operations.

About the role:
