Public Sector People in Australia is partnering with a For-Purpose organisation to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll function and ensure employees are paid accurately, efficiently and on time. This role combines technical payroll expertise with stakeholder management and process improvement, while contributing to meaningful public value.

You will lead end-to-end payroll, ensure compliance with Australian legislation and collaborate with People & Culture to maintain

Qualifications

  • Strong experience managing end-to-end payroll across a large organisation.
  • Excellent knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards and conditions.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Ability to manage complex payroll queries and provide practical advice.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a payroll team.
  • Proactive approach to process improvement and systems optimisation.
  • Experience in For-Purpose organisations is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end payroll function across the organisation.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Overseeing payroll compliance, including awards, enterprise agreements, superannuation and taxation requirements.
  • Managing payroll reconciliations, reporting and month-end processes.
  • Working closely with People & Culture to ensure employee data and payroll processes are accurately maintained.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems.
  • Maintaining strong payroll controls and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

  • Managing the end-to-end payroll function across the organisation

  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll

  • Overseeing payroll compliance, including awards, enterprise agreements, superannuation and taxation requirements

  • Managing payroll reconciliations, reporting and month-end processes

  • Working closely with People & Culture to ensure employee data and payroll processes are accurately maintained
