Job summary

The City of Casey is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to steer Casey's payroll function and lead a high-performing team responsible for end-to-end payroll operations across a large workforce. You will drive automation, governance and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance and accurate service delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading payroll teams within large, complex and highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and industrial instruments, including Enterprise Bargaining Agreements.
• Experience managing payroll governance, compliance and risk.
• Experience using enterprise payroll systems such as iChris, Chris21 and HR21.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data management capability with attention to detail.
• Customer-focused mindset with ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience driving process improvement, system optimisation and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a specialist payroll team, fostering a culture of trust, accountability and service excellence.
• Oversee the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant end-to-end payroll services, managing priorities and resolving complex issues.
• Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, awards and employment conditions.
• Ensure payroll governance, controls and risk management practices remain robust, with reconciliations and audit responses.
• Lead payroll contributions to major organisational projects including system and process improvements.
• Drive automation and self-service enhancements and smarter ways of working.
• Partner with stakeholders across People & Culture, Finance, Technology and the broader organisation.
• Build team capability and ensure business continuity through clear procedures and ongoing development.
