Job summary

University of New South Wales in Sydney seeks a Claims Officer to support a specialised team responsible for identifying, assessing and rectifying employee pay claims. You will work with the Claims Manager to apply relevant industrial instruments and legislation and ensure consistent remediation practices.

Reporting to the Claims Manager within People & Culture, you will review claims, gather payroll data, liaise with Payroll Compliance and Finance, and communicate with affected employees

Qualifications

• Relevant degree with experience advising on employee relations and pay claims.
• Demonstrated consultation with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative and discretion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
• Ability to apply judgement and develop robust remediation solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review and investigate employee pay claims, including gathering and analysing relevant records.
• Apply established claim assessment methodologies, prepare recommendations, and assist in determining outcomes.
• Liaise with Payroll Compliance, Finance, Salaries and other stakeholders to support calculations and remediation.
• Communicate professionally with current and former employees throughout the claims process.
• Manage reporting on claims received, remediated and trends; escalate complex matters to the Claims Manager.
