Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital Geelong, VIC, is seeking a casual Patient Care Assistant for the Emergency Department. You will support nurses and doctors, assist with patient transfers, and help maintain clinical areas in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants should have strong communication skills; a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance is desirable. Flexible shifts across 7:30am–3:30pm, 2:30pm–10:30pm and 7:00pm–3:00am, with weekend and public holiday availability.

St John of God Geelong Hospital St John of God Hospital Geelong is a 253 bed hospital and is recognised as the leading provider of private health care in the Barwon and South-Western region. The hospital provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services.

About the role

Join our Emergency Department team and make a real difference in the lives of patients every day. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will be an integral member of a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality patient care, assisting with patient transfers, and supporting nursing and medical staff in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. This opportunity offers variety, meaningful patient interaction, and the chance to contribute directly to exceptional healthcare outcomes within one of the hospital's busiest clinical areas. Working closely with nurses, doctors and allied health professionals, you will assist with patient care activities, maintain and clean clinical areas, manage stock replenishment, and help ensure the smooth operation of the Emergency Department. We offer comprehensive training and ongoing support to help you succeed in the role, along with the flexibility of casual employment across a rotating roster of 7:30am-3:30pm, 2:30pm-10:30pm and 7:00pm-3:00am shifts. Your skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be capable of working with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy clinical environment. A Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Client/Patient Services), or a similar qualification, is desirable but not essential. We also welcome applications from candidates who are currently undertaking tertiary studies in a health-related field.   • Salary: $32.68 to $34.04 per hour(casual loading included), plus 12 % superannuation
