Job summary

QML Pathology is seeking experienced Pathology Collectors to join our Emerald collection centre. You will engage with patients, perform venepuncture, collect pathology specimens and help ensure high-quality diagnostic services delivered locally.

The role requires Certificate III in Pathology Collection or equivalent venepuncture experience, with a 6-week paid training program delivered by Healius. Applicants should live within 25 km of the collection centre and be able to work Mon-Fri 8am-4pm.

Qualifications

• Experience as Pathology Collector or Registered Nurse with venepuncture experience
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection is required
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with patients
• Ability to follow procedures, manage priorities and work independently
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a team environment
• Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
• Evidence of immunisation requirements (including Hepatitis B)
• Live within 25 km radius of the collection centre/location (45 km for regional areas)

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, manage waiting area and explain collection procedures with care and professionalism
• Perform venepuncture and collect pathology specimens
• Conduct diagnostic tests (e.g., ECGs, blood pressure, Holter) as required and maintain accurate records
• Prepare, pre-sort and package specimens for transport to laboratories
• Manage patient communications and take payments when required
• Maintain supplies and ensure a safe, clean, professional environment
