Job summary

St Vincent’s Health Australia invites applications for a Pathology Collector at Sydpath, Darlinghurst, on a casual basis up to 38 hours per week. The role requires venepuncture experience and precise specimen handling within a busy pathology department.

You will work a rotating roster including day, evening and night shifts, perform venipuncture and associated procedures, and contribute to data entry and patient care while following WHS policies.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months’ experience in vacutainer blood collection with venepuncture skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service with a professional patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and reliability.
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating 7-day roster.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety in a healthcare setting.

  • Work rotating roster including day, evening and night shifts to support 7-day operation.
  • Venepuncture and specimen collection, preparation, storage and transport in a busy pathology environment.

About the role

  • Be required to work a rotating roster, including day, evening and night shifts, to support the 7-day operational needs of the unit.

  • Apply your extensive venepuncture skills and experience in specimen collection, preparation, storage and transportation in a busy pathology environment.

  • Assist with specialised procedures including venesection and Synacthen testing, as well as undertake non-blood collection procedures as required.

  • Demonstrate strong administrative capability including accurate data entry, keyboard skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team while adhering to policies, procedures and WH&S requirements, always delivering high-quality patient care and customer service.

About you

  • At least 6 months’ experience in vacutainer blood collection, with strong knowledge and practical skills in venepuncture and relevant pathology procedures.

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service, while maintaining a professional appearance and patient-focused approach.

  • Demonstrated capability to work independently and autonomously, with strong attention to detail and reliability.

  • Flexibility to work across a rotating 7-day roster, adapting to changing operational needs.

  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety principles, with effective communication and interpersonal skills in a healthcare setting.
