Job summary

NSW Health’s St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is seeking a Health Professional with pathology venepuncture experience for a permanent part-time role. You will join Sydpath at Darlinghurst, delivering high-quality patient care across a busy service.

The role involves rostered starts 5:00am or 6:30am on weekdays plus a weekend shift, along with strong data entry and WH&S practices. Pro-rata salary $64,552.80 plus super and salary packaging, with supportive professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months’ experience in vacutainer blood collection.
  • Strong knowledge and practical skills in venepuncture and pathology procedures.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a healthcare setting.
  • Independent work capability with reliability and detail orientation.
  • WHS awareness and effective communication within a healthcare team.

Responsibilities

About the role
  • Work a rostered schedule with Monday to Friday starts at either 5:00am or 6:30am, plus a weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) from 6:30am to 11:30am to support the 7-day operational needs of the service.
  • Apply your extensive venepuncture skills and experience in specimen collection, preparation, storage and transportation in a busy pathology environment.
  • Assist with specialised procedures including venesection and Synacthen testing, as well as undertake non-blood collection procedures as required.
  • Demonstrate strong administrative capability, including accurate data entry, keyboard skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team while adhering to policies, procedures and WH&S requirements, delivering high-quality patient care and customer service.
About you
  • At least 6 months’ experience in vacutainer blood collection, with strong knowledge and practical skills in venepuncture and relevant pathology procedures.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service, while maintaining a professional appearance and patient-focused approach.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently and autonomously, with strong attention to detail and reliability.
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating 7-day roster, adapting to changing operational needs.
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety principles, with effective communication and interpersonal skills in a healthcare setting.
