Job summary

Dorevitch Pathology in Hamilton (Victoria) is hiring a Hospital Pathology Collector on a part‑time basis (28 hours/week). You will collect blood and other samples across hospital wards, delivering patient‑focused care and accurate specimen handling.

Working Mon, Thu, Fri 9:00–17:00 with one weekend day (4 hours), you’ll join a supportive team and benefit from a structured 6‑week training program through Healius Academy, aiming to grow within the pathology setting.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Pathology Collection; hospital setting preferred.
  • Healthcare background welcomed (aged care, disability, etc.).
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

About The Role

As a Hospital Pathology Collector, you will collect blood and non-blood samples across various hospital wards while delivering a positive, professional and caring experience to every patient. This role requires the ability to work efficiently and confidently in a fast-paced clinical setting, where responsiveness and accuracy are critical to patient care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collect blood and other samples from patients within the hospital with precision and care
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with doctors, nurses and hospital staff to support patient care and respond to clinical priorities
  • Prepare and package specimens for transport in line with procedures and turnaround requirements
  • Maintain accurate records and follow required processes
  • Support smooth day‑to‑day operations within a busy hospital environment
About You

We are ideally seeking an experienced Pathology Collector with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection and experience working within a hospital environment.

We also welcome applications from candidates with a background in healthcare (e.g. aged care, disability support or similar) who are looking to transition into pathology.

Above all, you will be comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment, managing changing priorities and staying calm under pressure.

Qualifications And Experience
  • Previous experience in pathology collection is desirable but not essential
  • Certificate III in Pathology Collection is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience working in a hospital or acute setting is desirable but not essential
  • A background in healthcare (e.g. aged care, disability, nursing) or a strong customer‑facing background
Requirements
  • A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
  • Ability to provide evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B

Training

This role requires completion of a 6‑week paid training program designed to build the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed in collections. This requires a commitment to full‑time hours for the first 2 weeks, followed by a minimum of 25 hours per week. Training is delivered internally as part of our Healius Academy onboarding program and may be accelerated based on previous experience.
