Jefferies Your Local Provedore in Melbourne is seeking a passionate, hands-on Pastry Chef to join a busy commercial kitchen team. You will help with daily baking production and general food preparation, ensuring high-quality standards and smooth kitchen operations.

The ideal candidate has experience as a pastry chef or baker, a passion for baking, strong time management, and a team-oriented mindset. The role requires reliability and a hands-on approach within a collaborative kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a pastry chef, baker or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
• A passion for baking and food production.
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• A flexible, hands-on attitude and willingness to assist with general cooking.
• A good understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling.
• Pride in producing quality food and maintaining consistent standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and producing a range of baked goods.
• Maintaining consistent quality, presentation and freshness across all products.
• Following recipes and production requirements to ensure consistency.
• Assisting with the development of new baked products and seasonal offerings.
• Supporting the wider kitchen team with general cooking, food preparation and production.
• Preparing ingredients and ensuring everything is ready for daily production.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Monitoring stock, rotating ingredients and helping minimise food waste.
• Working efficiently to meet daily production requirements and deadlines.
