Job summary

Harmony Australasia, at CSA Mine near Cobar, NSW, is seeking an experienced Paste Plant Operator on a residential basis. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of the paste fill plant to specification in support of underground mining activities.

Working on a 7/7 days & nights roster, you will monitor performance, conduct maintenance, report faults, and collaborate with Underground Operations to meet production targets while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in mining or fixed plant operations is desirable.
• Paste plant operating experience highly regarded.
• Current C Class Driving Licence.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor paste plant performance and production rates to ensure quality and output.
• Perform inspections, housekeeping, and some preventative maintenance to keep plant running safely.
• Identify and report faults, process issues and hazards to support safety culture.
• Assist start-up, shutdown and isolation activities with Underground Operations to meet targets.
• Complete operational checks, records and shift reports ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Job description

The CSA Mine is located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia’s deepest underground mines and is Australia’s highest-grade copper mine.

We are proud to have recently joined Harmony Australasia. Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. CSA Mine has recently joined Harmony Australasia, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. The acquisition underpins Harmony’s strategy to expand its Australasian footprint and establish a strong, diversified copper portfolio, complemented by the Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland, currently under construction, and set to become the state’s largest open‑pit copper mine upon commissioning. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

We are seeking an experienced Paste Plant Operator you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the paste fill plant, ensuring paste is produced and delivered to specification in support of underground mining activities.

Working on a 7/7 days & nights rotational roster, this position is available on a residential basis only.

As the Paste Plant Operator, your duties will entail the following, however not limited to:

Monitor plant performance and production rates to ensure consistent quality and output.

Conduct inspections, housekeeping, and some general preventative maintenance to keep plant running safely and reliably.

Identify and report faults, process issues, and hazards, contributing to a proactive safety culture.

Support the start-up, shutdown and isolation activities, working closely with Underground Operations to meet production targets.

Accurately complete operational checks, records and shift reports, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental standards.

About You:

To be successful, you will bring the following skills, experience and personal attributes:

Previous experience in mining, mineral processing, or fixed plant operations is desirable, with paste plant operating experience highly regarded but not essential.

Sound understanding of thickening, slurry handling, pumping, and dewatering systems

Mechanical aptitude, with the ability to identify and respond to equipment issues

Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Current C Class Driving Licence

Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen

Excellent communication and teamwork skills
