Job summary

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network is seeking a dedicated Communications Coordinator within the Communications and Engagement Directorate. The role focuses on coordinating content and events for fundraising, supporting the network, the foundation, and third-party supporters, and delivering engaging communications across audiences.

The role emphasizes collaboration, content development, and strong media relations, with opportunities to work on diverse campaigns and public engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in media relations, journalism, digital marketing or public relations, or equivalent demonstrated experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
  • Highly developed coordination skills, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and proven interpersonal skills with the capacity to liaise with staff and community members at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships, as well as influence and negotiate with key stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, create, develop and deliver content and events for fundraising purposes.
  • Support SCHN, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, and other supporters in communications and engagement activities.

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join Sydney Children's Hospitals Network’s (SCHN) Communications and Engagement Directorate. Within a collaborative and supportive environment, you will support SCHN, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, and other third-party supporters, with the coordination, creation, development and delivery of content and events for fundraising purposes. This is an exciting opportunity for a communications coordinator seeking new challenges.


What You’ll Be Doing

The Communications and Engagement Directorate is responsible for implementing the communication, media and engagement strategies, maximising positive communication opportunities, and promoting the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN), its facilities and associated institutions. The Partnerships Coordinator works collaboratively with the Communications and Engagement Directorate, to support SCHN’s third-party partnerships, including Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) through the coordination, development and delivery of content and events that support fundraising initiatives.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in media relations, journalism, digital marketing or public relations, or equivalent demonstrated experience, or a combination of study and work experience.

  • Highly developed coordination skills, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and proven interpersonal skills with the capacity to liaise effectively with staff and community members at all levels, including corporate and media stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships, as well as influence and negotiate with key stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate innovation.

  • Relevant experience in a media or communications focused role, including the development and pitching media stories, with the ability to engage effectively with staff across all levels of the organisation.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, writing and editing content for a range of audiences and platforms.

  • Sound understanding of how online content, including websites and social media, contributes to audience engagement and growth.

  • Experience in photography is highly regarded.
